不管家里有没有壁炉，这些知识你得知道

在美国人的观点里，都认为房子有壁炉是件很酷的事情，和泳池一样是属于增加生活享受的东西。不过中国人一般都认为壁炉和泳池都是麻烦。

壁炉的历史基本和美国的历史一样长。不过很多美国房子的壁炉都是装饰用的，也叫Fireplace，壁炉的设计是从英国欧洲大陆带过来的，直接安装在墙壁上，靠火焰直接辐射加热，而烟气带走的热量相当多，所以一度不能真正用来为房子取暖，只是在客厅和书房里用来制造气氛。

常规壁炉因为加热效果不佳，浪费热能，被一位牛人改进了。本杰明-富兰克林发明了一种新的壁炉，这种炉子炉壁加热后辐射散热(相当于把壁炉从墙壁里移出来)，一个炉子可以将整个房子都加热起来，效率比Fire

place高了很多，后来人们把这种炉子叫做Franklin stove。

这个炉子不大，可以加热2000平方英尺的房子至25摄氏度。用几块木柴就可以对付一晚上。

不过现在也有人专门订做这种壁炉的，如果你看到谁家的壁炉外面围着一圈围栏，基本上就是富兰克林壁炉。

在Fire place里烧的木柴的长度是20-22英寸，在Franklin

stove里烧的木柴长度是14-16英寸。冬天如果每天烧壁炉，一般要用掉2个core木柴。

烧木材要经常清理烟囱，工具就是这个样子的：

上面说了，美国大部分房子都是fireplace，其中很多壁炉是烧天然气的，那种壁炉不能用来烧木柴，烧气就可以了，弄一些假木头在里面形成火焰，也很好看。

天然气的壁炉要注意火焰颜色，蓝色或者火焰前端带一点黄色都正常，如果是完全的黄色，说明燃烧不完全，要请人来检查一下。如果有味道，要把天然气的阀门关了，请人检查。

下面来看看烧木柴的壁炉：

生火之前需要检查：

1、烟囱是否畅通(如果你买的是旧房子，不知道壁炉以前使用的状况，那就让清炉工来检查，使用中的壁炉烟囱每年要清除一次，如果每天都烧火);

2、壁炉里面的通风口是否关闭，如果通风口关闭了，就要打开;

3、通风口打开大小要自己掌握，太大热量损失多，太小烟气会倒灌，开始开大些，等火势上来后再调节。

怎么生火呢?

1、在炉架上先放一块引燃木柴，然后把木柴堆放上去，一般木柴不要超过8块，木柴之间要保持空隙，要防止木柴在燃烧过程中倒塌，所以堆放有点讲究。木柴最好在干燥处置放了一年以上。

2、在炉架下面放一些旧报纸等易燃物，火柴点燃。

3、把壁炉网罩放在壁炉口以防止火星溅出。如果你的壁炉口有玻璃门，可以把门口的网罩先关好，然后再关玻璃门。

4、当木柴烧完后，不要忘了关闭通风口。

5、在享受壁炉的温暖和火光时特别要注意安全，搬运木柴，拨火，开启通风口都要戴上耐热手套操作。

每年需要检查的：

1、查看烟囱帽

烟囱帽就是一个带有金属网边缘的小帽，它是用来盖住烟囱顶端洞口的。它可以防止雨水，小鸟，动物和各类碎片进入烟囱。如果烟囱帽掉了或是坏了，需及时的更换或是维修。

2、检测烟囱的砖石结构

检查外面砖块或是石头间的砂浆，确保它是完整的。将灯光打入烟囱中，查看内部的砂浆情况。如果砂浆碎裂了，一定要更换掉。需要留意碎裂的砖块或是否有砖块不见。

3、检测金属烟囱

主要检测有无凹陷或是生锈了的金属，以及联合处的螺丝是否还在。

4、注意杂酚油

杂酚油是一种可燃性的物质，它十分的坚固，颜色暗沉，像鸡冠一样突起。产生于木材的不完全燃烧。杂酚油的聚集会造成极其严重的火灾，因此一旦发现必须马上移走。

5、及时清扫积碳

积碳是十分易燃的物质，呈黑色，但是比杂酚油软。大多数的烟囱，在积碳积累到1/8英寸的时候，就需及时的清理掉。

6、燃烧后在烟囱内积累的附着物

这种闪亮的，像沥青一样的物质十分易燃，而且极难将它全部除去。

7、烟雾

如果房屋里出现烟尘，你需要清除烟囱里的碎片，并确保风门是开着的。如果有很多的烟从烟囱里出来，这说明木材没有得到充分的燃烧。
